Presidents Day

The President’s Day three-day weekend is an ideal time to fire up your RV for a winter road trip. Make your President’s Day getaway even more special this year by visiting an exciting and educational presidential site. The U.S. National Park Service offers tons of historical sites dedicated to our nation’s leaders, so start planning your President’s Day getaway to one of these great destinations today.

Washington Monument National Memorial – District of Columbia

There’s no better place to be on George Washington’s birthday than the Washington Monument in Washington, D.C. This site serves as the country’s best known memorial to George Washington, and since it stands over 555-feet tall, you won’t be able to miss it. The site’s mesmerizing reflecting pool connects the monument to the Lincoln Memorial, so you’ll be able to visit multiple presidential sites on your getaway.

Little White House — Florida

The Little White House, also known as the Harry S. Truman Little White House, served as Truman’s winter house in the 1940s and 1950s. President Truman stated that this winter escape in Key West offered a rejuvenating atmosphere, where he could deal with major issues like the beginning of the Cold War. Five other presidents have also used the Key West home as a temporary winter White House during their presidency.

Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park — Texas

You don’t have to leave the warmth of Texas this winter to visit a historic site for President’s Day. The Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park is in place to preserve Johnson’s grandfather’s ranch house and a portion of Johnson City, a city that his family founded. The historical park is open seven days a week with guided and self-guided tours available for visitors.
